Needle Localized Excision

Needle localized excision also known as hookwire localisation and excision, this procedure is carried out for non palpable but suspicious breast lumps. These lumps / mammographic abnormalities are localised under mammography or ultrasound guidance and then a wide excision is carried out under anaesthesia. Intraoperatively, a specimen mammogram is carried out to confirm complete excision of the lump.

Based on the pathology report, further treatment is then carried out as required.
